Future Simple

We use the future simple to talk about the following:

  • Future events
  • To make future predictions and to express possibility
  • To offer help and to make requests
  • Formal situations
 
Examples

Future Predictions

  • You will win the lottery.
  • You will be successful.
  • The next President will be a woman.

Requests or offering help

   A: Will you help me with my project?
   B: Yes, I will help you.

Future events

  • She will meet you tomorrow.
  • I’ll be late to the meeting.

Formal situations

  • The meeting will start at 10am on Monday.
  • The doctor will see you next.

 

Affirmative Form

Below are the affirmative and negative form conjugations. Will does not change with the subject. You can use will with all subject forms. To make the negative form add “not” to will.

Contractions

To make a contraction in the affirmative form of future simple we contract the subject and will and in the negative form we use won’t instead of will not.

Examples with contractions

She’ll be back in five minutes.

They won’t go to Japan next year.

Maybe, we’ll go out to dinner tonight.
